Deciding to Build Your Own Chicken Shed

Posted By Carol on November 9, 2009

Have you ever wanted your own chicken shed or chicken coop?  Perhaps you priced the pre-made ones but found them a little too costly?  You thought of building your own, but didn’t know where to start?  Do you like the idea of keeping chickens and collecting your own fresh chicken eggs from your own backyard?  If so, I’m glad you came to my site because I was in the same situation at one time.  Click here to see what worked for me.

When I discovered that store poultry eggs spend weeks or months in cold storage before they ever reach the supermarkets, I decided to build my own chicken house that was big enough to house a few chickens and thus have my own fresh eggs.

What I needed next was some simple but suitable chicken coop plans.  After some searching, I found just what I needed; a choice of several plans from a small chicken coop to a large one.  And if I ever wanted to expand or move my chicken shed, it also gave me plans for a double story chicken coop and a portable one.  Click here to get an idea of what I’m talking about.

The price was right too, only $29.95 with a 100% money back guarantee.  With that came some real nice bonuses on the cheapest and best materials to buy for your chicken housing.  Also, how best to position your shed and even how to build your chicken nesting boxes.  There are also some other interesting and helpful articles on raising chickens.

You can see the exact plans I had to choose from by clicking HERE!

See you at breakfast.  I like my eggs basted.

Choosing a Chicken Shed House Plan

Posted By Carol on November 8, 2009

There are a lot of basic things you have to consider in choosing a plan for your  chicken shed house.  For instance, materials, insulation, ventilation, lighting, positioning, nesting, perches, litter collection and protection from the elements and other animals.

You will also have to take into consideration whether you want a small or large chicken house.  This will depend on the space you have available.  It’s a good idea to check out more than one plan.  But don’t let that overwhelm you.  If you pick a plan that gives you step-by-step instructions, you shouldn’t have any problem at all.  Click Here to get a better idea of what I’m talking about.

Why Build a Chicken Shed?

By building your own chicken shed, you will have fresh organic eggs every day and a way to recycle your food scraps into a good fertilizer.  You can then look back and say “I built this with my own two hands”.  How satisfying is that?ChickenShed

Another reason is that you can build your own coop at a fraction of the cost of buying a pre-made one.  Most of the materials are hugely inflated and have to be assembled anyway.  So why not buy your own materials at your local home center and assemble it yourself?

I’ve found a particular website to be extremely helpful in choosing the right materials at the best price.  Click Here to see the website for more detailed information.
